TNR Happenings December 17, 2018

Oh, what fun it is to ride!
Christmas on the Reservation was by far our best effort of all time. The smiles, the joy on the kid’s faces, hearing “This is just what I wanted!”, and receiving the colorful thank you cards was priceless! Thank you to all TNR offices, donors, and participants for going the extra mile. Our own homegrown Santa looked, sounded, and acted the part! The children of our TNR members were amazing. They were so helpful, well behaved, and added to the event in all so many ways. Newcomer Mila was held by almost everyone on the Reservation from elders to kids, and a girl in a wheelchair. 400 families will be served with the groceries and household supplies that we purchased from a local grocer. We assembled the grocery bags on Wednesday afternoon and it seemed like the mountain of food would never end. Groceries were delivered to Rose (of the orphanage fame) to help her out. The Chiropractic and Naturopathic clinic was operating at peak capacity. We had the most ever donated musical instruments which brought tears to the eyes of the music directors. Some were placed in Wolf Point, but the majority was placed in Frazier. The temperatures were mild compared to other visits in December, being in the 40s instead of below zero. There was a brilliant mixture of kids and adults who received adjustments at the basketball tournament. So many times we heard, "I’ve never had a treatment like this before!" The new deli was scrumptious. Frosty who? Seeing the newly constructed Geodescent Solar Greenhouse was awe inspiring. Dr. Megan made sure all the planning and organization was done to a tee. The souvenir shopping was so much fun! Hearing the kind words from Kenny Smoker at the end of our journey was the icing on the cake for our spirit. Having our new friend of Love Has No Color, Roque (the mountain and Aikido man) with us warmed the heart.
Coaching calls for the next 2 Mondays
Due to Christmas and New Years falling on Tuesday’s we are changing the coaching call day for those weeks! Please call TNR headquarters to get your times scheduled for Monday 12/24 and 12/31.
Who gave Dr. Kevin cash at the reservation?
Dr. Kevin returned from COTR with $25 in cash and an envelope filled with cash that people had given to him. With so many activities going on he couldn't remember who gave them to him. Not good! So we are trying to figure out who gave him the $25 and the envelope with money in it. If any of our COTR participants can help us solve this puzzle, please call TNR and let us know.
Did you take any pictures or videos at Christmas on the Reservation?
If you did, please send what you have to TNR! We use these pictures and videos all year long and we want to share them with the TNR members who were unable to attend. They are not only fun to look at; they can be shown to your practice members and donors. Maybe after seeing the pictures, they will want to join us the next time on the Reservation.
DCME is on January 19th
No learning is acquired by anyone unless they want to learn and believe in some way that they need it. Here is your invitation to enter into the unknown. Reach people with Chiropractic who fall through the cracks under normal circumstances. DCME was created to continue the training of DCs who don’t want to be watered down or regulated with other people’s expectations of what a DC can do. Is it humanitarian? Of course. Is it economically satisfying? Yes again. One of the true treasures of being a member of TNR is the awareness that this mindset and skill must be developed; it’s not standard equipment in any DC. There is a persistent rumor that the first ever Big Vision Beyond Branding Head-to-Head writing will be available to gaze at. As the world of Chiropractic continues to backpedal and obediently cater to the sharecropper’s view of adult, musculoskeletal pain relief only, the few, the bold, and the adventurous are creating new inroads of health for practice members. Get your ticket today!
From the mind of Miyagi

I hope you enjoy the deep content of our weekly TNR happenings. Consistent readership gives you the keys to the kingdom, much as past TNR members devoured Dr. Joe’s writings and his Warrior Wisdom. Some of the ideas I'm sharing today originate in the Princeton Alumni Weekly magazine: 'iGen: Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy- and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood' and 'The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure'. What do these tabloid-type research themed books have to do with us as DCs? PLENTY! The authors offer explanations for why social media might decrease young people’s happiness and increase mental health issues. Online content displaces more meaningful contact. Communicating through social media is tempting because it is easy, but it is ultimately more superficial and less rewarding than getting together. One of the success ingredients of TNR is getting together on a regular basis to train and commune, LIVE! I’ve noticed the more socially conscious DCs are the more successful and there is a proportionate decrease in social media usage. It’s not that they don’t participate; they just don’t rely on it personally or professionally.
There has never been a better time for a TNR trained family DC to be ultra-successful! Today we have enough information to last 100 lifetimes, but less communication to keep a family together for a meal. To possess once-in-a-lifetime skills of communication, both online and offline is to be without peers in today’s society. Having grown up with different technology and social structures, the challenge is to reach the hearts and minds of this next generation. If you’re stuck in a pain relief only model, today’s iGen, Millennials, and even Gen X’s will pass you by in order to create a real-life relationship with DCs that understand the growing mental health issues from anxiety, to obsessions, defiance, behavioral disorders, etc. Vehicles of communication change and vary, but the ability to communicate is a principle that does not change. Don’t be too overly concerned about missing out on trends in marketing, bright shiny objects, etc. It’s called FOMO, the fear of missing out on something of major importance, like what type of deodorant your favorite celebrity wears. Here’s the solution. Do your homework! Study and apply your communication skills and continue to hone them. Each TNR event is an opportunity to continue your path to success, regardless of what the majority of DCs insists on doing. Don’t get sucked into the addictive fray. Help those who have been sucked in to become healthier and they will be in a position to make a choice. Right now they are addicted to the collective consciousness of society and they don’t see the choice.
Practice tip of the week
Get a widescreen TV for your office and show different things to your practice members each week: LHNC pictures, fundraising information, testimonials, Chiropractic and kids, concepts you want your people to know, Health Awareness Dates, and snippets of information that create an understanding of TIC in your office. Limit the amount of medical propaganda you show. Many vendors will sell you medical tainted material, back pain relief, etc. Today you can do this all by yourself and be as customized as you wish!
DCME confidential

Question 1: Lately, I’ve been getting lots of kids between 10 and 14 years old with lots of emotional issues. They seem to be doing okay and then they plateau. What’s up with that?
Answer: Chances are they are not doing their DCME properly. We have some enterprising doctors who have the child do the lesson before they receive their adjustment. Smart! Doing something without comprehension is on par with rote memorization. You can only talk in sound bites. Like being on Jeopardy, you know a lot about very little with no critical thinking and no understanding, just a veneer to say you completed the task and then move on to the next one. No can do. For out of this world results you must supervise and check in with all DCMEs almost on a daily basis.
Question 2: Is it really true that you don’t have to understand how the 21-Day DCME Video Program works, just be willing to do the lessons?
Answer: While on the Reservation for Christmas on the Reservation, a former TNR member said she shared her DCME program with her father and he has stopped smoking. Her dad thinks Dr. Kevin is a bit out there but he hasn’t smoked in months. Willingness is the key ingredient; understanding comes after the results are produced. Many in society will not participate until they understand. This is a latent form of Acute Onset Retardation.
