Three DCs who attended the same Chiropractic College at the same time will have entirely different offices and achievement levels. Let’s say one office barely makes $150,000 a year, another makes $350,000, and the third makes more than $500,000.  Many DCs will justify these differences with simple and false linear explanations that fit their own narrative. “He rips people off with insurance billing.” “They use BSOs (bright shiny objects for income production).” “They do accident care, etc.” It’s not what they do; rather, it’s why they do it. It comes down to the why for any high-achieving professional (athletes, doctors, realtors, musicians, authors). If there is a strong enough why, they are willing to look inside of themselves rather than to grin and bear it with various levels of underachievement, including pretending it doesn’t bother them, procrastinating, or my personal favorite, they wouldn’t want those levels of income because of all the taxes they would have to pay. Love Has No Color

The dates and location for this summer’s adventure will be released in the next few weeks. Boot Camp is usually the first or second week of August. I am working on something really big, with even more emphasis on SERVICE, FUN, and COMMUNITY. House-to-house food distribution is always a fan favorite. This year we will be targeting more of the high needy, including single-parent households and homeless people. We also want to set the record for adjusting and treating kids and parents. Can we crack the 2,000 barrier? Stay tuned.

My favorite grandson, Beau Tiger Pallis, was born last Monday, and I was stunned by how medicine takes every opportunity to beat the drum of disease. You would think things have changed in the last 40 years; guess again. They want to run different tests, administer blood transfusions, administer vaccinations, use formula, etc. At every opportunity, they use fear-based scare tactics and sales opportunities. Thank goodness a second-generation DC (Derrick) was there to protect a first-time mother from the 3-day indoctrination into how to raise a sick, dim light bulb, subluxated kid.       

 

If this is the way all of your new patients entered the world, how can you downsize your recommendations to merely pain relief or obey insurance companies’ mandates that fly in the face of true health? Of course, you can be merely a pain relief doctor, and that’s okay. There is room for all types of doctors. If you are attempting to establish health, that’s an entirely different matter. Health is so much more than just pain relief.          

 

It is rare for many people to understand the perfection that is within each and every one of us. Superficial care owns the market of consensus; they only make an effort when the disease presents itself. Don’t change the oil in your car until you hear metallic parts grinding in your car. Don’t foist, but do educate your people that there are levels of health. As in a gym, some choose to pay for membership and don’t come in. Some just come to do the sauna or drink a protein shake. Others read books and walk on a treadmill. Then others do functional training and sweat buckets. The more sedentary people at the gym are usually watching the people who really go after it, workout after workout.

 

It’s easy as a health-oriented doctor to become discouraged with the resistance people offer you, but this is natural because of the disease programming they have received since birth. Don’t take it personally; it’s not their fault, they are merely protecting what they know to be true, even though it isn’t. In medical sales, it’s always about the benefits you will supposedly receive (examples are sexual dysfunction, vaccines, birth control), never about what your body has to endure with biologics, immunosuppressants, genetic/genome meddling, etc. Nature’s toolbox of health is completely ignored.

Seeing the inner dimension (taking off the mask) of people is a gift few ever experience. Every person who walks through my door is a fire-breathing dragon. They are angry and have fear, are diseased, have been given up on, and may be facing death, and probably think I am another notch on their belt. Just another doctor, right? WRONG! We are here to restore faith and connection to each of our Level 2 patients. Being given up on leaves one in a profound state of guilt, shame, and isolation. The kind words spoken around a treatment table at our trainings and truly listening to another human being are unlike anything an average doctor hears…EVER!

 

You will never tire of the way your patients perceive you. When they introduce you to others at social gatherings, you can instantly see the disconnect with people who don’t share that perception. especially nurses and other medical people. Miracles have no place in fundamental, linear, scientific medicine. They are only spoken of in whispered hushes or disparaging terms. You don’t do this type of care for others’ approval, but rather for the people that you care for. It’s a treasure to behold. You may not want to become a Miyagi; however, take a single step toward that end. It will change your life forever.

Question 1: My DCME doesn’t want me to ‘crack their neck’. I am using an instrument to do the job, but the results are not forthcoming. I’m in a bind. What are your suggestions?

 

Answer: If you have established a relationship of trust, this should not be a problem. “Hey, Mr. MD, I don’t want you to operate on me or give me an injection of poison.” There is a time for a structural adjustment and a time for a tonal adjustment. You make the clinical decisions, not the practice member. 

 

Question 2: My DCME keeps ragging on me to spend more time with them. They say that I should spend more time with me because of the money they are paying me. What do I do?

 

Answer: You are not working on an hourly wage scale. One of the call-ins at the Tao of TNR will address this question.
