673 Pounds of School Supplies Sent to the Reservation

All of the pre-K through 5th grade school supplies have arrived safely. This is a big deal since these much needed supplies will be used by 25 classrooms. A huge thank you goes out to the Kids in Need Foundation for this incredible donation. Dr. Kevin’s massage therapist, Pamela, who has been a great supporter of LHNC since its inception, put up a Boot Camp 2018 poster in her spa. One of her clients said that he could help out! Boy, did he ever! Through his connections, we were put in contact with the Kids in Need Foundation.

LHNC Fundraising News

This is the last full week for the 2018 LHNC Boot Camp fundraising. It ends Tuesday, July 31st. Let’s end strong! We need another $10,000 plus to purchase the high-quality, non-perishable food for the needy on the reservation. We will be distributing some of it and the rest goes towards establishing a year-round food bank on the reservation. We also need lots and lots of backpacks. You can go to the links below for suggested styles. Be watchful as many of these styles are out of stock.

Who’s Coming to the Reservation?

If you’re planning to attend this year’s Boot Camp/Fun Days, August 9th to the 11th, please let TNR headquarters know. So far there are 37 confirmed participants. All participants will be provided with an up-to-date, accurate list of attendees and phone numbers to help coordinate and solve transportation challenges. Remember, we will all be staying at the Homestead Inn in Wolf Point from Wednesday through Saturday or Sunday, depending upon your flight times on Sunday. Some of us will be staying at a hotel near the Williston Airport on Saturday night due to a 6:15 a.m. flight.

Practice tip of the week

If you know the Above the Line concept (the higher the resonation, the higher the levels of achievement and quality of life, etc.) and the Sweet Spot concept, then you won’t be in such a hurry to cave, negotiate, or let the practice members run the show. People who are Above the Line and in the Sweet Spot will understand that anything worth having is worth committing to. Chiropractic is diametrically different than medicine. With Chiropractic, the patient will need to be a participant and do their part, which includes traveling to your office for their scheduled adjustments. With medicine and drugs, the patients don’t have to travel, they just take their pills and let the pills do the work for them. Some of the proudest accomplishments of your life were not easy. When Above the Line and Sweet Spot people accomplish something that positively affects their lives, they feel a wonderful sense of completion and fulfillment.

Some of the ways we inadvertently cut corners:

Lay off educating our patients and focus on symptoms only

Not having Health Awareness Seminars

Adjusting on the first visit

Watering down our recommendations

Making financial deals

Take our foot off the pedal with kids in our office

People pleasing instead of doing what is right

Letting our practice members or staff become stagnant

DCME news!

More and more members are getting in on the fun. Brand new practitioner Dr. Chelsea, from New Mexico, almost had a DCME with just her 4th new patient! Dr. Mark, from Michigan, broke the ice with DCMEs and is now going to town. He said he should have been doing this years ago! Dr. Lizzie keeps getting more DCMEs. Dr. Christy, Dr. Cliff, Dr. Randi Jo, and Dr. Marc are reporting more and more difficult cases are entering their offices. We continue to receive more and more orders for the 21-Day DCME Video Programs. Have you ever noticed that when you make emotional connections with practice members, they reveal a side of themselves that most people don’t know about? In our society, it's so difficult to ask for and receive help! There is nothing worse than asking for help and not coming close to having your health restored.

There’s a reason for this. It’s really easy if you have tennis elbow. You can touch it, it restricts motion, it’s swollen and inflamed. How about mental or psychological illnesses, addictions, emotional illness, PTSD, concussions, depression, etc.? Where is the location of these illnesses? It’s so much easier to fix the physical. When it's non-localized or non-linear, its an entirely different story. Is anxiety in the fifth lumbar? I think not. Every illness has an emotional and psychological component. Each DCME has their own private journey with their 21-Day DCME Video Program. It really allows them to release, forgive, and let themselves off the hook or whatever you wish to call it. There is nothing like it. Regardless of the illness, the emotional, spiritual, and psychological factors determine the restoration of health.

Look at your case histories. How many doctors, including DCs, have your difficult cases been to? Just because they are tired and worn out from all the failed activities, diagnoses, and classifications, doesn’t mean it's going to be easy for them in your office. No rock-n-roll band ever sets out to be a one-hit wonder. You should lay off the one adjustment miracle mindset that plagues our profession. The reality with DCMEs is they are an intense work in progress. Six months is usually enough time to see clinical and quality of life changes if they are possible. They require lots of effort by both parties…that’s what binds us to our practice members. You will get to know yourself and have more revealed about yourself doing DCMEs than anything else in Chiropractic.

Is it safe for your dog to go outside?

During a recent TNR training event that was held outside at the Pallis Ranch, we heard a wailing wild animal, which turned out to be a fisher cat (a wolverine type eating machine that likes to eat cats and small dogs). It isn't bad enough knowing that this creature is lurking in our woods but there are other predators on the prowl, as I witnessed on Saturday. Dr. Christy and Dr. Cliff wanted to celebrate their 6th anniversary with a day trip to Newport doing the Cliff Walk by the Newport Mansions. Dr. Julie was in NH on a road trip visiting a friend, so yours truly was called upon to mind their pups. No problem, right?

The kids dropped off their dogs and supplies and I took the dogs out for a walk to distract them while their parents were leaving. We were next to the barn and Roscoe veered for the pond to cool himself off while Copper (all of 14 pounds) was relieving himself on a tree right next to the barn. I was 10 feet away walking when Roscoe came running around the corner of the barn woofing. Just then I saw a huge hawk on the low roof of the barn with Copper in his sights. With Roscoe coming and my yelling, the hawk took flight and spared the little guy. At 14 pounds, he is right in the big hawk’s wheelhouse. I think I’ll carry him on my next babysitting assignment if I get another opportunity!

Recordings of Kenny Smoker

Kenny Smoker’s presentation was captured and will be made available to all in attendance. If you weren't at the DCME seminar and want a copy of his presentation, it will cost you a $500 donation to LHNC. The spirit of this offer is the $500 is above and beyond what your office has raised for Boot Camp. The parallels between Native Americans and DCs who want to fit in and homogenize with the dominant society are striking. When you give up your identity for any reason, there is a huge cost to pay. We have never had a recording like this to offer our membership. Thank you.
