TNR Happenings April 22, 2019

Miyagi is still among the most feared TNR events!!!

Did you worry about producing clinical results before TNR? Life was so much simpler: all you had to do was lower your expectations. Were you like most DCs who would give it the ‘old college try’ and wait to see what would happen? For the majority of DCs, that’s as good as it gets. They only swim in 82 degree heated pools (adult, musculoskeletal pain) rather than frigid, shark-infested waters (difficult cases, including all sorts of visceral diseases.) This TNR member put it best: "Still after all these years, going to Miyagi gives me shivers up my spine thinking I can develop those skills to help people above and beyond back and neck pain.”

At the last TNR event, members were able to see Dr. Sabrina’s 2nd Big Vision Writing and this time you will be able to see Dr. Aaron’s.

Friday evening is worth the price of admission. Everyone in attendance will have a different experience. This secret event will bring down the house. There is a persistent rumor that Emily may join us. I will be personally guiding each and every attendee through their limiting beliefs and performance robbing behaviors.

I will be going to the Reservation on Wednesday

I will be meeting with Kenny Smoker, Dr. Megan, and members of the HPDP to plan for our Boot Camp/Fun Days 2019. This promises to be our biggest event ever. I feel like a kid before Christmas looking at the Sears catalog: I know I’m not going to get all of the catalog items under my tree, but I still wish for all of it! Fundraising will begin immediately after I receive all of the details. One of the items on my 'Sears catalog' wish list is food and household items for 1500 families. We will need some big fish donors to achieve this. It’s not too early to have a serious dialogue with any big fish that you may know!

I will be in Virginia on May 4th

This will be four hours of dynamite as the communication and emotional connection techniques will be revealed in my presentation of, “How to speak to Millennials.” If you know of any Virginia doctors who need to hear about TNR, let them know!

From the mind of Miyagi

Take a step back and take a bow. Being in TNR, sometimes you lose your relativity for how seasoned and developed a practitioner you are. In the past, I have gone to a Chiropractor that helped with deep pain in muscles and joints. He was also a teacher of this technique. I needed to go in for some "bodywork" and when I called his office I was told that he had retired. The CA said that he sold it to another DC and asked if I wanted to make an appointment with him. Why not, I thought. I went to see him and immediately realized I was not in a TNR office. He is good at doing the technique but he only has a PVA of a handful of visits. When I got to his office for the first visit, two middle-aged women were bitching about insurance and deductibles and were talking about how swamped they were. Other than a brand new practitioner, all TNR members reading this see more people in an hour than this doctor will see all day. I meet the new doctor. He was nice, just not memorable. He attended the University of Bridgeport. On the first visit, he worked on the injured muscles and made small talk, but no emotional connection was made.

Most might not think there is not a price to pay for not having communication chops and no patient education. But there is a huge price, although invisible to this young DC. I arrived early for my second appointment which was at 7:00 a.m. The doctor strolled in 5 minutes before my appointment time. It was apparent that he couldn't remember my name so he immediately started talking Dunkin Donuts language: “Hey how are you, nice to see you.”  I said hi to him using his name, but he didn’t know mine so he just said he would be with me in a minute. The CA handed him my file and then he saw my name. This was like being in a medical or dental office, not a Chiropractic office. Also, he sees no wellness, no kids, and no difficult cases; but that is of his choosing. There is a reason we are more valuable to society than a limited, pain relief doctor.

Practice tip of the week

Take regular vacations. Some of us are work dogs who actually love what we do and we will resist vacations. Make sure to take them on a regular basis anyway. Some of us will get itchy after a few days and will want to come home. Others could stay on the beach forever. Take vacations with your kids and also take vacations alone with your spouse. Don't take any study material. Relax, escape, and let your imagination run wild. Don’t attempt to be like an amateur and do too many things or you will need a vacation after you come back home.

Question 1: With my limited experience (only 5 DCMEs so far) I have found that the size of the problem does not matter. What I mean is some of the people who have selected level 2 have minor problems while lots that have major problems select level one. How can this be?

Answer: Welcome to the world of DCME. It’s actually counterintuitive to think that urgency is not proportional to commitment level. It's how our society teaches people: it breeds dependency on the government, the state, or insurance companies to get you out of difficulties; when actually the reality is you are solely responsible.

Question 2: I caved and did a DCME recommendation of 3 months when I knew it should have been 6 months or perhaps a year. After the Progressive Report, can I do another heavy duty 3 months?

Answer: Of course! Most of us are just now making this a part of our office and we recommend far too little care for difficult cases.

Question 3: I had a family come back in my office after a 3-year absence with a tale of woe: disease, divorce, and financial problems. I spent way too much time with them and got behind over an hour? What happened?

Answer: Your personal history with them got in the way. Nobody likes suffering, but when a practice member leads with a sympathy or gut-wrenching story, the real answer is: is their ability to commit to care compromised? All the testing and listening to their story matters not if they are not willing to undergo the care. A few minutes is all it takes. Before performing an exam and other testing, look them right in the eye and have a frank dialogue of the commitment level necessary.

21-Day DCME Video Program is on its way to the Reservation!

While on the Reservation this week I will be discussing with Kenny and Dr. Megan how to best implement the 21-Day DCME Video Program for at-risk youth. This has never been done before. Thank you to all who use this in your offices. We are breaking new ground in Chiropractic. Because of this program, so many will discover the unlimited potential of Chiropractic instead of the limited, pain relief model currently popularized.

Dr. Kevin’s new book is finished!

Most DCs will find themselves in this book! It goes behind the scenes and discusses TNR members (anonymously) who transcended their limited beliefs to enjoy unfathomed levels of success. Before you can expect results, there is work to be done on yourself. It shows that all improvement in your practice must happen through you. Members will receive hard copies at TNR events. Visit our website and download the book. Please share it with your DC friends. Thank you.

The End of Struggle
