The pulse of TNR!
Miyagi is May 18th & 19th & it's not too early to register
Spring is here (I know, how is that possible, right?) and your social calendar will get even busier. Over the years, the members who grow the most black the TNR dates off. Their decision to participate at high levels in TNR is already made with no discussions. If the dates are not blocked off, too many temptations will rear their ugly, distracting heads. There is a marked shift in society toward doing everything online. Miyagi is EXPERIENTIAL! Being humanitarian, having clinical results beyond compare, and having 3, 5, 10 fold the economics of other DCs are earned, not observed. There is no substitute for actually being at an event. There will be a mystery activity on Friday evening that reintroduces adventure into your lives. No kids, no curfews, and for a couple of days, adult-only conversation and interaction with like-minded DCs. Kids appreciate how refreshed a parent is upon arriving home and spouses also notice the infusion of energy. Getting away from our practices, our families, and our routines is a critical ingredient to growth. Introspection is so important to improve the quality of all the relationships of importance to you. DCs who don’t grow, expect others to do it for them. They convince themselves that they wouldn’t want to see that many people or earn that much income. They want to do the same thing over and over and think they will produce different results. It simply can’t be done.
Get your weekly infusion of TNR
Thank you for all the kind words about the paper newsletter that arrives in your mailbox each week. There’s something about having something of value in your hands. The ambitious members will three-hole punch them and put them into binders. They highlight sections, write comments, and have a-ha moments each week. When they look at them next year they will notice their growth! The newsletter is a member only feature that supplements the weekly coaching calls, H2Hs and TNR events. Yes, it’s available on our website at coachingforchiropractors.com, but most tend to skim instead of really dig in.
What to do when you run out of space!
Dr. Lisa Graham had 30 people show up for a HAS and she doesn’t have a room big enough for that many people. How did she fit them all in? They just sort of stood out in the hall and strained to hear what was going on. There is a certain point where you hit the tipping point and getting people to your weekly HAS becomes easy. Don’t look for shortcuts in the process. Just like earning a black belt, it takes some time and it absolutely recession proofs any office regardless of insurance coverage. Are you just starting up with your HAS? Two issues will confront you: getting people there and giving a world class presentation. Most people will have the most difficulty getting people there. Make it the highlight of the week. When you think about it, it's more important than the actual treatment because by receiving treatment, there is no understanding of what we do, nor what we stand for. Have some light food and a beverage and really put your heart into it. 99% of our profession do not do a HAS for obvious reasons. 100% of the superstar offices have these features and remain at ultra-high levels of achievement regardless of upticks and downturns of the economy, insurance coverage, etc.
Practice tip of the week
This is a concept that cannot be emphasized enough. Lots of offices are doing this with great success. After every new patient, give the new patient the opportunity to refer in family members or friends for a no-fee exam. It could be for a limited time only, say 7 days or 14 days at the most. Please note that the Baseline Assessment is a free assessment for all 15 year olds and under that runs all year round. There is an urgency created with family and friends. This is your way of encouraging people to find out about an acute or chronic condition and giving them the choice to do something about it. Remember not to do the Report of Findings on the same visit of the Exam. This cheapens the concept and puts sales into it where they are not welcome. Do a full Report of Findings on a separate day. So many offices outside of TNR talk about family wellness, then they leave it up to the parents to understand something they know nothing about. Get your staff in on the action of talking up referrals as well. They have a different relationship with your practice members than you do. They relate to them on the street level, non-doctor, non-technical, etc. The patients need lots of understanding and encouragement if they will upgrade their paradigm from disease to health. This is a game-changer!
The thread that binds us all
All humans have basic needs that need to be satisfied: love, survival, or to be part of a family, group, community, or tribe. When these needs go unmet, there are emotional, social, and family dynamics that go awry. One such human need is the need to be understood and recognized. With a child or adult that has an obvious disease, many times the focus in their care is the classification or the diagnosis or the disease and the lifetime drugs. This is a result of society’s fascination with disease and not health. Medical activity masquerades with no results instead of achievement-based activities. This is so prevalent in our society that people are oblivious to not getting results and will actually fight to stay sick. Do not argue with people or attempt to convince or prove to them. Inspire and encourage them. Do not keep answering questions that don’t have answers. No matter how long a precious gem has been underground, the minute you bring it into light, it will shine again. If they trust you, people will rally to break outside the norm of illness to become healthy; but you must form a community that they feel safe in. There is a minority of people who will go against the complacency of disease, especially parents that will do whatever the $%&* it takes for their kids. You’ve got to shuck a few clams to get the pearls.
Here is a testimonial from Taylor Family Chiropractic that attempts to put into words the feeling of community.
LHNC news
Below is a link to an article submitted by Dr. Teri Dunton about the infamous Native American activist, Leonard Peltier, who is described as one of the most dangerous men on the planet. At Wounded Knee in 1973, there was a famous armed conflict between Native Americans and FBI agents that ended with bloodshed and lost lives. As a result of this incident, Leonard Peltier has been jailed for over 42 years. His book entitled, Prison Writings, is a deep, spiritual account of his imprisonment and Native American injustices. It is not a casual read but is a deep insight into the tangled web of the genocide of Native Americans. Could LHNC free Leonard Peltier before he dies?

DCME news
Have you noticed that practice members that go through all the concentrated effort of the 21-Day DCME Video Program tend to have much higher levels of retention and referral? It’s true! People who select the heavy duty level make their adjustments and achieve far superior clinical results. Many DCME people have been to multiple doctors and to make it convenient, cheaper, easier in your office belies the fact that the problem is way, way, chronic. Think of the concentric rings. Far too many of us have been trained only to focus on the physical injuries. How about emotional and chemical? Each and every time a practice member puts their trust in another doctor and gets let down or abandoned, another layer of accumulated compromise of their nerve system happens. How about each time they get another prescription filled and take it for months upon months. We accept progressive and degenerative with other explanations, such as alcoholism, MS, Alzheimer's, and liver cirrhosis. The more chronic and frequent the alcohol consumption, the greater the degree of effect on the liver. Sometimes in our own minds we forget that they are going to MDs for help and they are actually contributing more compromise to the nerve system emotionally and chemically. Don’t be conned into thinking you have a simple solution to a complex problem. After all, why are we the last ones consulted?
