TNR Happenings July 16

DCME was beyond epic!

The light bulbs inside the heads of participants just kept glowing. Guests included Kenny Smoker and a mystery DCME practice member from the early 90’s that still is contributing to Chiropractic in a big way. Dr. Helena's presentation talked about the real-life DCMEs in her office. We covered concept after concept of heavy-duty strategy to take the participants' offices from where they are to where they want them to be. We covered the mindset of what it takes to be a DCME DC. If you want more new patients, referrals, results, income, and wellness, and want to create a once-in-a-lifetime office, get the DCME vibe in your office immediately.

Put up a LHNC kiosk in your office

When 3-time fundraising champion Dr. Teri Dunton of Big Stone Gap, Virginia says that’s a great idea…it’s a great idea! She spied the kiosk at the DCME experience in the Taylor Family Chiropractic office and you could see the wheels turning in her head. It is so easy to do and so convenient. However, it needs the doctor's and the CA's involvement to encourage practice members to open their wallets. Do this in your office for the last 3 weeks of this fundraising campaign to top off your great fundraising efforts for 2018 LHNC!

Practice tip of the week

Pro athletes routinely speak of the media and the fans as the toughest part of being a pro; not their opponents but the very people they are supposed to entertain. Stop allowing feedback from practice members to affect your office procedures and mindset. When people on five medications who are out of shape say your recommendations are outrageous, don’t take it to heart. Dr. Helena Beacom so graciously gave DCME attendees a laminated article from BJ Palmer from the Green Books on “The Penalty of Leadership”. One of the quotes reads, “Jealousy does not protrude its forked tongue at the artist who produces a commonplace painting.”  Have no attachment to the decisions practice members make or the comments made on what you are providing to people. Stay plugged into the source. Read not only the TNR Happenings, read the blogs and the writings, and watch the training videos. All of these are imbued with a very high resonation and a contrarian slant that is not available in our profession. To lose your purpose or to not discover it is a crime of humanity.

A personal message from Dr. Kevin

While listening to Kenny's presentation specifically prepared for our group, I was blown away by the parallels between TNR and Native Americans. The top concern for the kids on the reservation is having someone in their corner to lead them, teach them right from wrong, and to share rites of passage, rituals, and skills that will protect and guide them throughout their entire lives. When kids don’t pass through these rites of passage or don't have the leadership, the effects are exponential. There is an erosion of the spirit when the kids don't have tribal values passed on to them when they are young. They don’t have a moral compass or a purpose of which to strive and if affects every area of their lives. Kenny Smoker stated that the majority of drug and alcohol problems would disappear with the infusion of these values at the right time.

The parallel in our profession is when you don’t have someone in your corner to encourage you (not coddle you) in all areas in your life, you inevitably lower your standards and let anything fly. By not having values, you stand for nothing other than what insurance companies will currently pay for. Chiropractors go into hiding from themselves, their families, and their practice members. They carry a dirty little secret around with them, pretending they are happy, fulfilled and profitable. IT’S JUST NOT SO! Not only are they wacked in the wallet, it also leads to relationship strain with marriage, parenting, family, and friends.

We need to inspire and encourage the next generation of DCs. If you know of younger DCs who would be open to receiving some much-needed guidance, put them in touch with TNR. As a profession, we cannot lose one soon to be great DC.

What a difference a year makes!

During the breaks at DCME, many of the DCs got adjusted by other TNR members. Techniques used were Upper Cervical, AOX, Logan Basic, SOT, and the list goes on and on. One particular member caught my eye. She had been painfully self-conscious (needlessly!) about her adjusting at a Miyagi seminar in the past and seeing her adjust now was riveting. Her confidence and fluidity were amazing no matter if it was tonal or structural; it didn’t matter. It wasn’t a matter of just adjusting for the last year (you don’t get better at golf by playing), it’s because she is putting together the mindset necessary to become a once-in-a-lifetime DC. The world of Chiropractic is in good hands with the next generation of TNR DCs; the whole world will hear from them.

A great idea for LHNC

Any member who refers in a new member to TNR or who makes a $500 donation to our 2018 LHNC fundraiser will receive a copy of the video recording of Kenny Smoker. You will not be entertained by this video; rather, it will make you reflect on your purpose in life and it will inspire you over and over.

Yeah, yeah, yeah

As if we don’t already have enough sonic or acoustic challenges with our house band for the reservation, Don’t Quit Your Day Job, we desperately need a humanitarian bass guitarist. Not all the sonic or acoustic challenges stem from vocals (ha, ha). Do you know of a practice member, friend, or colleague that is a bass guitarist that could make the trip? All they need to bring is a bass guitar.
