Boot Camp 2025 Edition
“Out of this inner conviction comes the willingness to re-enter life again to participate fully in it, and to take the necessary risks and chances.” This concept of consciousness/spiritual work has been rattling around in my head for over four decades. It’s when a TNR doctor or Miracle Training client looks back and has that transformative moment or miracle. Only by looking back at the body of work accomplished can one have the necessary vantage point to see the amazing contrast of their journey. Most people in the thick of it will be resistant at first, inventing all kinds of excuses until I say okay and agree with them on why not to begin: time, money, sick kids, a sick dog, too many specialists already, wrong insurance coverage, etc. It’s a veiled, socially accepted way of quitting when the going gets rough. The best one I’ve heard was from a person with terminal consequences who said she couldn’t make it to my Tuesday night New Patient Orientation because she was polishing the spokes of her mother’s wheelchair. Our minds or ego-consciousness are rooted in a basis of naiveté and childhood innocence, and merely play out our upbringing or social conditioning, as well as the influence of social media, memes, religion, etc. It protects, defends, and gets angry or aggressive with anything or anybody that doesn’t align with its false beliefs. It cannot discern truth. Once programmed, it will die serving beliefs and assumptions that are false. There is no rationality or logic, only blind obedience. It is perfectly willing to kill you in the process of serving its goal, not yours. Ouch!
When we are forced to enter the domain of the 4 Ds (dark night of the soul), our emotions and feelings gang up on us and make it much worse than it needs to be. They don’t care about our title, looks, money, phony/phantom social media likes, religion, political affiliation, or if you are a doctor or healer! For a child to be loyal to their family and honor and love their mother and father, they must adopt their teachings. There is no right or wrong spoken here. The progressive pain of these positions tells us that they are far from the truth. In reality, this is an opportunity or invitation, even though it doesn’t feel like it! This is the battleground where spiritual work takes place, not in 70-degree, sunny days with calm waters and no wind and waves. We are exposed as being tethered to the world of superficiality, the bloodless dance of superficiality, and will be of no or limited value in this inconvenient, unwelcome journey.
The shock, pain, and hopelessness come from the sudden realization of our powerlessness. The fact is that our small self, ego, mind, and willpower have met a brick wall. We are stoppable and have been stopped in our tracks, and the personal will cannot have its way. It can’t change the events. The essence of a catastrophic situation is total surrender to the discovery of that which is greater than the personal self. It’s the very opposite of being passive. It’s being open to a power of infinite ability. There is no religion being discussed here, no agreement or naming, classifying deities, consensus on the image of God, or personal views, etc. It is very common for people in the dark night of the soul to have given up, quit, and be resistant to help, which represents a resistance to change. In essence, they are saying, “I would rather live a limited life than face that experience again. “'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
They endure in a state of overwhelming anxiety. Nobody knows what it’s like to go through it for that person. Say it’s a disease that has no hope in the world of form, of linearity, or of science of content (remember the 4-minute mile here!). Context, non-linear, or mystery is where true healing occurs. It hits everyone differently. In the energy or consciousness of fear and hopelessness, you get hit with everything that vaguely resembles this in your past life: betrayal, quitting, sulking, scorching the earth, becoming a narcissist and having slaves obey you, being an outsider, isolated, blame, guilt, etc. Pick your poison; they are all the same.
The mind will never figure things out. It can’t do so, and yet we continue to call upon it in a Sisyphean-like fashion. It will still tirelessly try to redo the high school prom, the bullies, the people who treated you unfairly, and the people you need to get even with, etc. The pain you felt and continue to feel comes from the absolute resistance to the experience. Regardless of the emotions, feelings, or thoughts, the events remain. The mind looks in the wrong direction and says If I could only change the circumstances of that event, then I would feel all right. The mind ties everyone up with its futile attempts, when in reality, it has no solutions whatsoever for the problem. Its job is to sustain problems, not to solve them. It evokes sympathy, anger, contempt for the world, conflict, war, danger, and so on. It’s all seductive and entertaining, but devoid of solutions. Although humanitarian and well-intentioned, hospice has no solutions for illness. Soldiers can’t create the conditions for peace…EVER!
Journeying to the Reservation has a different meaning for all participants. Seeing children living in third-world conditions rocks most of us to the core. It singlehandedly exposes the government and agencies designed to help, rather than hurt: by the people, for the people, welfare money, and the optics of how something looks rather than its essence. When you walk on the Reservation, survival instincts kick in, along with shame, guilt, and what you believe in is not true: all fire to give a vague feeling of walking into hell. How can fellow human beings in this country (or anywhere for that matter!) be treated in this fashion? The 14 people who are walking into hell with me are beyond my brothers and sisters. We walk arm in arm to bring about healing love, hope, and dignity whose time has finally come. This event is outside of time, logic, reason, profit, or political gain. In other words, it is not recognized as valuable in the world of appearance, and yet to the people involved, it’s as valuable as anything in this world. The defense against feeling this way is by denying, not participating, letting someone else do the heavy lifting, magically thinking that someone else will lift these kids out of their circumstances, etc. Love Has No Color has always been about people stepping up to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Over 20 years ago, I recognized these human condition challenges and enlisted the support of well-educated, wealthy doctors. There are so many levels of participation. You can donate, participate, do both, invite guests (we have four this year!), and have your family and kids witness what goes on outside of our sanitized, comfortable worlds. A doctor is reading this with big tears in his eyes right now. His son had visited the Reservation with him, and it made such a profound impression on him that he wrote a paper about it at school. He is entering Palmer Chiropractic College this fall, following in his father’s and mother’s footsteps.
By being associated with The New Renaissance, this is my gift to you, your family, your practice members, and the world. In your hands, you hold a sacred trust; guard it well. The world does not consider this valuable, profitable, or relevant. Do it anyway! When did selflessly serving others before a higher power become a big deal?
Life Can Take A Twist On A Dime
A tree crashed into the TNR driveway, inches from the stairs. Both of our cars were blocked in until Chris came to the rescue!

Take a look at the “moving” statue that Marley saw in Boston.
