Upcoming DCME July 14th
Early bird $200 off special has flown the coop, but you can still get your ticket. One of the mistakes even high flying DCs make is thinking they are doing DCMEs when they really are not. Giving it the old college try is not DCME. Seeing people for extended periods of time or on wellness is not a DCME. DCMEs are a different bird. The doctor needs a level of urgency and the proper headspace to avoid the landmines that are encountered with caring for those who have slipped through the cracks. It’s not just the clinical ability to tackle difficult cases, it’s all the other stuff that actually controls the outcome. It's about having huge finances, being outside of insurance and state board regulatory fear, and being able to outline cases in terms of frequency, duration, and, of course, what to do outside your office? Something that should not need mentioning is the autonomy and freedom from insurance dependency. This is not taught in Chiropractic College or anywhere else at any price. If you fail to see the need to continually update this mindset and this ability, these cases will not find their way to your office.
LHNC fundraising news!
Did you hear about the 6-year-old who is raising $500 on gofundme for LHNC and then requested a song on the setlist for Don’t Quit Your Day Job?
Check him out: https://www.gofundme.com/lincoln039s-love-has-no-color
There are so many imaginative ways of raising money and getting results. Dr. Teri has contributed over $7,000 and she’s just getting started!
Social cause is a great way of uniting your office. People just love getting behind causes that help kids in need. Encourage your kids and the kids of your office to set up a LHNC fundraiser on gofundme or, better yet, they could make their own team on our Crowdrise fundraising site. There are so many people in your office and in your social media connections that are legitimately able to help the kids. Cold calling groups and organizations is unnecessary and painful. If you know people with connections to big businesses or corporations, ask them to solicit a donation to LHNC for you: they can usually make things happen in a hurry. Don’t forget to invite people to attend Boot Camp as well.
Fun Day August 9th to the 11th
Participants should start thinking about what pods or activities you want to do with the kids. If you need to bring specialized equipment, do so, but Wal-Mart is your best bet for getting supplies. The less complicated the lessons or activities, the better. They don’t want rules etc.; they just want to play with people who care. Keep it simple and change the kids' lives for the better!
Practice tip of the week!
Have a whole wall dedicated to pets of your practice members. Make a contest out of it. Have them email you a picture that you can put up on the wall. Have some fun prizes for biggest dog, shaggiest dog, fluffiest dog, etc. Kids just love sharing their pets with others…especially their Chiropractor!
Is your office ready for an Intro Seminar?
Dr. Craig Hensley recently had an Intro Seminar and he got a whole lot more than he bargained for. Not only was it great to spend time one-on-one with Miyagi and pick his brain (he had lots of questions!), it also gave local DCs an opportunity to receive some guidance and get out of their ruts. An added benefit was the effect it had on his super CA Jessica! She got really fired up and motivated and is now even more powerful and able to take the office to new heights.
Also, Dr. Craig is celebrating the birth of his second son! Not only is his practice on fire, his family is growing!
What to do when the wolf knocks on your door
There it sits on your desk, next to your fantasy sports teams and pictures of your kids: a certified letter! Is it from an insurance company telling that you are not being compliant enough and they are going to punish you? Is it from a lawyer with a tale of woe from a disgruntled practice member? Is it from the state board or whomever?
First of all, doing something that very few DCs do is going to ruffle more than a few feathers. Disease is king and health is frowned upon in our society. Sticking only to adult, musculoskeletal pain relief is the safe but unfulfilling thing to do. When the wolf comes a-knockin' (or howling), don’t let your fears get to you. Your spouse will usually chime in with more colonization fears. They don’t mean to, but they will make you feel worse than you already do. I’ve helped many of you that are reading this, along with dozens of previous TNR members, weather the storm from wolves.
From colonial times to MLK and Gandhi, the governing body or authority of the times might not like the hearsay things you are doing, even if it benefits people. It’s not that you’re looking to get into trouble, it's that trouble will sometimes find you. A contrarian dances to a different drummer and TNR doctors are different than others. Many of us consider ourselves outsiders. You can’t practice in freedom asking for permission.
Don’t look for trouble. Keep under the radar as much as possible. Don’t go looking for fights by attempting to convince the authorities you have a better way: you’ll be locked up. Be very leery of writing sensitive things about practice members or their cases on social media. Don’t shoot your mouth off online or offline about your superior clinical results or seeing kids with no-no illnesses. Don’t become a martyr either. When you are doing anything great, you will face resistance from the very people you are attempting to help. This is the toll we pay for being authentic to ourselves and practicing the way of our choosing.
Hachi loves the outdoors and water! Send us some pics of your pets to share with the TNR tribe!!!
