Dr. Kevin is back from the Reservation

Wow! There is a palpable buzz around town about our anticipated arrival for Boot Camp on August 9th to the 11th. Kenny Smoker has many more people assigned to this event to ensure smoother operations, more kids, and less ‘reservation hesitation’. Our rooms will be taken care of at the Homestead Inn as they have been the past couple of years. We will be building a 33 foot Geodescent Growing Dome Greenhouse in Poplar. We have 3 master builders who will do the planning and prep work. Lots of hands will be required to build this beast in a few days! In addition, we will be purchasing lots of high quality, non-perishable food to be handed out during the Fun Days and delivered door to door to the outlying towns (Frazier and Brockton) that don’t receive the same services as Poplar and Wolf Point.

Itinerary as it is for now:

Wednesday:

Most participants will arrive and the builders will begin their work.

We will be shopping for lots of supplies at Wal-Mart.

The food will be trucked to the Chiropractic Clinic.

Wednesday evening:

the food will be assembled into bags ready to distribute.

Thursday:

Wolf Point Fun Day from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Wouldn’t it be great to adjust over a thousand kids and adults?

Clean up for about an hour and then distribute more food door to door, help with greenhouse or doing other cleanup projects until dusk.

Friday:

Poplar Fun Day from 10:00am to 2:00pm

Then it’s off to the jail to adjust and comfort the juveniles and male and female adults. The Johnny Cash prison concert will follow.

Saturday:

A full day of community service.

The greenhouse will be worked on and lots of other projects will be announced.  Everybody will pitch in to do whatever they can, we will have lots of projects to do!

Some things to know about this year:  We will be letting all our people know about what type of backpack we will be getting and will announce this in the next few days. In past years, they have varied from Northern Face to a $2.95 budget one and we want to have one standard model that we will bring to the reservation. Also along that line, we are going to buy school supplies room by room, teacher by teacher. These will be bought before we arrive and Kenny’s people will get it to the right teachers. Much more planning and a lot less waste this way. Another thing that’s needed that may surprise you:  shampoo, soap, deodorant (travel sizes please), white t-shirts, kids' size tidy whities, and kids' size socks.

Start your Crowdrise Fundraising NOW! Waiting until a few weeks before Boot Camp gums up the whole process. We must order all of the supplies we are buying in advance. The more money raised, the more kids we reach…simple!

Baseline Assessment in the news!

(Click the link above and go to page 5)

Congrats Dr. Randi Jo Steiner for your online article, “Is your child trying to tell you something?" It was in an Autism group's online newsletter and the fact the article appeared speaks volumes. She spoke to the directors of an autistic group and they asked if she would be willing to write an article for their readers. Perhaps therefore you are required to write research papers while in Chiropractic College, except this article will be read by hundreds, if not thousands, and will result in kids receiving Chiropractic care to be healthier. For many members, At all of our training events we stress the importance of supplying online free content to as many groups as you can; but this is something that is easily dismissed as one thing you will get to when you get around to it. It’s a FREE way to gain lots of exposure not just limited to the insertion in an online magazine.  It’s another spoke in the wheel. Doctors outside of TNR are still searching for the way to get 50 new patients in one fell swoop. For doctors in TNR, it’s more like 25 ways to get a couple of new patients. Dr. Randi Jo is also going to enlarge the article, laminate it, and hang it in her office. She will be passing out copies to her practice members, putting it in her Important Patient Records Folders, handing it out with her great bio when she speaks to groups, and sending it via email to prospective new patients or patients who have already scheduled. Great job Dr. Randi Jo!

DCME July 14 news!

There is a persistent rumor that Kenny Smoker will be speaking at our event in July. For newer members or members who have not been to the reservation, this is a no brainer. Soft spoken, yet powerful. To hear him talk about a whole population of DCMEs and to report on all the progress they are making, especially with a full-time DC adjusting the kids, is something nobody else in the profession will ever hear. Hear him speak about all the behind the scenes bloopers with LHNC over the years and about what he really thought of Dr. Kevin when he landed on Plymouth Rock in the reservation all those years ago. He has seen every DC from TNR from the beginning. You will never hear anyone quite like him! He is a deeply spiritual man and the Native American values are the same values we hold dear in TNR. Our Chiropractic journey shares many parallels with their journey to retain their heritage, their culture, and their beliefs instead of being assimilated by the dominant culture.

One of the hallmarks of DCs entering planet TNR is the emergence of attracting and accepting these DCME cases very few in our profession ever see, much less produce results. You may think that all DCs do this type of heavy lifting. It’s simply not true. To see these cases, you have to be a Navy Seal DC and have the courage to stand before parents in truth, produce results others can’t, and have recommendations that stretch from months to years instead of days to weeks. Seeing these cases creates a spirit of aliveness and adventure not seen in most practices. One of our members is caring for a 17-year-old kid on the PDD spectrum in a life or death situation. The government is deciding whether  or not to remove this kid from the home and place him in an adult mental facility with no chance of freedom. Caring for these urgent cases sure beats helping a crick in someone’s neck or back. To have the freedom to practice that way you want, you must pay a steep price…but the price is not impossible to pay.

We're offering an early bird special: Get your ticket before June 15th and pay only $1,695!!! That's a savings of $200!!!

Dr. Kevin will be in North Carolina for an Intro Seminar on Thursday

Dr. Craig will be hosting this Intro Seminar and will be assisted by Dr. Liana. The seminar will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon. You're welcome to join us or if anyone has any DC friends in that area, please use your social media to invite them today. The cutoff for registration is tomorrow. The price is $199 with a full money-back guarantee.

Practice tip of the week

Your homework is to dust off your Health Awareness Seminar and get it up and running. If you are currently having one, upgrade and supercharge it. Most DCs will spend lots of time practicing for it and that’s good. More important in the digital age: GETTING PEOPLE THERE! If you have 2 CAs, one usually has more growth potential and is good at events and promotion. Assign her to help each week getting lots of people there. You need to have the most incredible experience every Tuesday evening, but even a HAS that is evolving and getting better each week is better than not having one at all. You will notice lots of practice members’ dropout without this office procedure. 99% of all DCs don’t do one for obvious reasons. Do you think symptoms will keep a practice member coming to your office? Guess again. You will really get a glimpse of their identity when you invite them (and you will get a glimpse at yours, as well) and if they participate or not. If there is one uniting factor in all of Chiropractic, it’s having a HAS, the flagstaff of ultra-successful offices.

LHNC news

While I was on the reservation, many coincidences happened. I was at HPDP headquarters and I was introduced to a woman who came in. She had a story to tell. Her grandson, who is now in his early twenties, was at-risk and having a difficult time with life years ago. He was running with the wrong crowd and making poor decisions. She said he received a pair of LHNC special ‘hi intensity’ sneakers and something inside of him changed. Those sneakers changed his life. I know this may sound silly to some readers, but it’s not silly to that family. Even though he has outgrown them, he keeps them right next to his bed to this day.

Let’s make this year’s Fun Day one to remember by having as many members and volunteers participate as possible. Invite your VIP practice members, friends, teens at-risk, relatives, etc.

Don’t let overwhelm grind you down

A lot of members are experiencing substantial growth and it’s easy to feel a bit spread thin with practice members not exactly sticking to their commitments, CA shortcomings, issues at home, etc. Here are some preventive measures you can apply immediately. Pay attention to your spouses and don’t take them for granted. Don’t waste your precious personal power by engaging in arguments (online or offline) trying to prove or convince people about Chiropractic. Pay no attention to them to other people's opinions or expectations. Being different requires a different set of beliefs, an unshakable belief in oneself, and the ability to serve the next practice member regardless of flack from a resistive practice member.

Vacations are a must. Almost across the board, most pre-TNR DCs didn’t vacation enough. Take vacations with your kids and take romantic vacations with just your spouse. If you have a community of health, your practice members will almost push you out the door. If you have more of a symptom based office, they will say, “You’re always out of the office or taking vacations.” Fantasy camps are great. Always wanted to play hockey with former NHL stars? Now it’s available. Want to go on a great hunting adventure? There are lots of opportunities. The same thing is available with Major League Baseball. Let being on vacation blend with your office. When I'm vacationing, or eating food not usually consumed, I reply to my wife, "I’m on vacation" and she says, "you’re always on vacation!"
