How’s your overhead lookin’ these days?

Have you ever noticed that when a kid is done playing with a certain toy, it unceremoniously gets thrown in the closet and sits there for years…its lost the appeal and luster it once had.

It never gets played with again!

If you are honest with yourself, the same applies to our bright shiny objects, you know the who do’s, who dat’s, the endless array of income producing ‘add-ons’ most Chiropractors use from time to time.

Decompression, lasers, physical therapy, rehab, essential oils, you name it and it has made the rounds in Chiropractic.

Most DCs have dabbled in other things besides adjustment.  Once the ‘newness’ of the ‘new toy’ wears off, there’s still have a monthly reminder on your credit card.  The overhead continues to increase even when the toy isn’t being used anymore.

There is nothing wrong or right with BSOs.  If you choose to use them and believe in them then continue to use them.

If you weren’t paid to use them, would you still?  Do you use these same modalities on your spouse and children?

If you are using them only as an economic crutch, I have some good news!

Wouldn’t it be great to make the choice to use them based on what is best for the patient, not the reimbursement level?

I graduated first in my class and was very into modalities and etc. I had a white coat, stethoscope, and a full head of flow. One of the prizes back then was a Doppler ultrasound unit that you could measure the blood flow in patients.

I know it sounds crazy to younger DCs today, just as crazy as your BSOs will sound when looking back at them.

There will always be BSOs; marketers are creating new ones right as we speak.

It is not the intention of this blog to prove or convince anyone of you to use or not use modalities. Nor is it to tell DCs how to practice.

The purpose is to give those DCs who wish to adjust more people, the opportunity to do just that.

If you go to eBay, you can see all the ‘toys’ listed and how quickly they devalue.  They were hot for a short period, and then they fizzled out, just like toys in the closet of a kid.

Whether you judge your office from a humanitarian or economics or both, if you were busy all day adjusting patients that demanded your care, how could you focus on doing anything else?

Don’t have a dependency on BSOs unless you choose to.  If you want more Chiropractic, it’s all around you!

I would love the opportunity to get to know you and show you what your office would look like with a lot more Chiropractic in it.
