The Grief Retreat

It’s finally here! This is our annual exploration into the unknown. There is nothing like it on the planet.

Grief Retreat

Fun Days Dates

The dates are August 13, 14, and 15. This is an all-hands-on-deck event. If you attend each year, or if it's been a few years, make sure to mark this on your calendar. Something deep inside of you gets activated on the Reservation. Serving the kids and adults soothes the soul in a way that can’t be reproduced in the world of ordinary affairs. The responsibilities or roles that you play in your community are always there, and will be there when you return. You must take the time to see to your own needs: to serve others, to get away from your ordinary world, and to express love to forgotten kids. This gratitude for life seems to last the whole year and is like a sacred recharge of your soul’s battery. Nobody can do this for you.

From the Mind of Miyagi

Have you ever noticed that some things you take for granted are all but impossible for others? The Mother’s Day Celebration for our family was at the site of Christy and Cliff’s royal gardens. The time, effort, and planning that Christy puts into her flower gardens take your breath away. Her yard looks like it belongs in Home and Garden.  While visiting Michigan last year, she remarked to her uncle Scott (Dr. Julie’s brother) about her love for gardening, and he casually remarked, “It’s in your DNA. It has been passed down from your grandmother and grandfather, and your mother; we all have it.” Even though Christy knows this to be true, it struck a chord with her. She knows she loves flower gardening and everything that goes with it, like the connectedness, but the roots (sorry, couldn’t help myself) of her passion were almost beneath her conscious mind.

If you embody a sense of connection to people and a genuine desire to help, you create an invisible environment of safety that people can feel. It isn’t necessarily what you say, it’s what is behind your words. People notice it instantly when they enter your office. I would marvel at how many offices my patients would drive past to reach my office. At times, I was even embarrassed for them, asking, “Why don’t you visit a DC closer to your home?” They would look at me queerly and say, “They aren’t you.” Silly me. It’s not your technique, office equipment, or marketing; it’s something that resides in you, and you either have it or you don’t. Yes, you can develop it, but most choose not to, and they must do something else as a substitute or imitation. More sizzle, less stake. More appearance, less essence.

Scientific, analytical, aloof, and superficial is a turn-off. Yes, they have lots of data, technology, and information about disease, but no warmth. You shouldn’t show patients emotion is an outdated premise that simply is not true. A surgeon may or may not have great cutting skills, but having no follow-up, no reassurance, or no consideration of what the patient is experiencing is an implicit arrogance, a father-knows-best attitude that impedes healing. You don’t have to become social friends with your patients, but a sacred relationship of trust is your goal with each patient you see. They can refuse to enter this relationship with you, but your part is to offer this to each person. Their participation is not your part, it’s theirs.

Miracle Training

Miracle Training With Dr. Kevin

Many doctors and healers still are not comfortable with invisible diseases that don’t necessarily have a location. Anxiety, fear, depression, concussion, PTSD, mental and emotional disease, and autism are not well understood, and the results in these arenas are horrific. They require significant effort, babysitting, and activity, but with dismal results. Mental and emotional illnesses are viewed with superstition and suspicion. Most people are resigned to the impossibility of resolution.

Like the sub-4-minute mile, there is an artificial ceiling placed on invisible disease. In reality, they all respond to care if you know what you are doing, possess higher consciousness levels, and are not intimidated by invisible disease. The mind, consciousness levels, and self-healing are not contained within the drug and surgery arena and, therefore, are considered irrelevant. Whether a group or body considers them irrelevant or not has no bearing. Like covid, religion, politics, and war, they must comply with an agenda and must stick to it, regardless of how untrue it is. Follow the money, power, and resources trail, and you will pull back the curtain of the Wizard of Oz.

DCME Confidential

Confidential-150x150

Question 1: My DCME was supposed to start, and they never showed up. He was so into it on the phone; I can’t believe he never showed. I’ve called him and left messages. What should I do?

Answer: Nothing. If they want their money back, issue a refund. You made an arrangement, and it was not adhered to. Move on.

Answer: I used to think I produced pretty good results with pain cases, but with DCME cases, I don’t do so well. What gives?

Answer: DCME cases have little to do with superficial, Level 1 cases. They are deeper and require much more experience and a higher level of consciousness. There is a reason they are left to the few, not the many.
